Hotel Gaudi Barcelona

The Hotel Gaudi Barcelona, named after Barcelona’s famous architect, is located on a road just off the bottom of Las Ramblas.  The hotel is often renovated, the last time being 15 years ago, and has been run by the same family that founded it in 1964.

Unlike most hotels in Barcelona it isn’t part of a chain which gives it a little more personality, as can be seen in the Gaudi imitation design in the lobby.

Hotel Facilities

Just off the reception area of the Hotel Gaudi there is a beautifully quaint little café which also has a bar and is open for snacks between 11:30 to midnight.  The Gaudi hotel has a large, well equipped gym for all the fitness fans out there.  There is car parking under the building for 63 cars.

Business Facilities

The Hotel Gaudi Barcelona has a conference hall but it is quite small.  It fits about 30 people maximum, and the layouts can be adapted. Any audiovisual equipment needed can be acquired through the hotel.

Rooms at the Hotel Gaudi

The Hotel Gaudi Barcelona has 73 rooms which are plain and relaxing.  The road on which the hotel is situated is quite narrow so if you can, ask for a room on a high floor to ensure good natural light.  The rooms all have satellite TV, direct telephone line, piped music with 4 channels, a strong box and air-conditioning.  The bathroom has a hairdryer and there are terraces on the upper floors as well.

Hotel Location and facilities

Nou de La Rambla is a narrow street just off Las Ramblas which means it is quieter and you are still a stone’s throw away from Barcelona’s most famous street.  The area was once quite seedy but has cleaned up its act, although it is still better for younger people without families because of the noise and busy ness of the area.  There is a Spa shop next door for all your last minute necessities and snack food, and a cash point just opposite.  Everything else you may need can be found on Las Ramblas, from restaurants to a wax museum.  The nearest metro stop to the Hotel Gaudi Barcelona is Drassanes which is a 5 minute walk away, from Drassanes you can go to Passeig de Gracia to see Gaudi´s real masterpieces in 5 minutes by metro.  The Barceloneta beach is also just a 15 minute walk away.

How to travel from the airport to the Barcelona hotel

Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia station, in about 25 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to change here for the Green Line Metro to Drassanes. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the metro.

Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs 3.90 Euros. The journey time is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you have to change here for the Green Line Metro to Drassanes. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the metro
