Barcelona Hotels

Hotel Oriente Barcelona

Right on Las Ramblas,  in a building with a grand, old doorway is the Husa Oriente hotel Barcelona , another in the Husa hotel chain which has comfortable, basic hotels all over Barcelona.  This one has the advantage of being right on Las Ramblas and thus within easy access of all the sights of interest Barcelona has to offer.

Hotel Facilities

The Husa Oriente Hotel Barcelona has parking available 100 metres away from the hotel.  There is a restaurant that serves a continental breakfast every morning.  The hotel also has a photocopying and fax service.

Business Facilities

The Husa Oriente Hotel Barcelona has a sumptuous banqueting hall which can hold up to 300 people.  There is also a smaller room which has a maximum capacity of 130 when set up for cocktails, or 100 when arranged as a theatre.  A photocopying and fax service is available.

Rooms

There are 142 rooms in the Husa Oriente, some with views over Las Ramblas which is a bonus if, like me you are an avid people watcher.  However these rooms will also be the noisiest so if you are a light sleeper it may be best for you to request the quieter rooms at the back of the hotel.  The rooms are plain and comfortable, and complete with bathroom, TV and telephone.  For such a central location you do sacrifice a bit of space and additional facilities, but you won’t be spending much time in the hotel anyway.

Hotel Location and Facilities

If you want to be right in the heart of the city then this is the hotel for you.  Located on Las Ramblas, a stone’s throw away from the Liceu theatre, the wax museum and countless bars and restaurants.  The Barceloneta beach is a 15 minute walk away, the aquarium is 10 minutes away and the nearest metro is Liceu, a 3 minute walk away.  All of the main sights of interest are at you fingertips.  You can walk into the Raval to have a coffee and see the museums or you could head into the Gothic quarter to see the Cathedral.  Closer to home there is an attractive tapas bar next to the hotel and a bank just across Las Ramblas.  The always busy Placa Reial is just opposite and has a great selection of bars, restaurants and clubs.  There are also some Irish pubs next to Placa Reial if you can’t go without your sport/ beer fix. On Las Ramblas and the surrounding streets you will find a plethora of cash points, pharmacies, internet cafes and mini-markets.  If you want a larger supermarket then head up Las Ramblas to Carrefour Express which stocks a good variety of food and cosmetics.

How to travel from the airport to the hotel

Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia station, in about 25 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to change here for the Green Line Metro to Liceu. The hotel is a short 3 minute walk from the metro.

Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs 3.90 Euros. The journey time is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you need to take the green line metro to Liceu. You then have a 3 minute walk to your hotel, or if you don't mind a walk, you have 10 mins to the hotel from Catalunya.
