Why Barcelona is so popular now?

In this article you will find out why it is worth to visit Barcelona and thing which make this city so popular.

Barcelona is the city of the endless energy, rhythms of the guitars, the war of the freedom and the sounds of the heels. As known as the most important city of Spain and the capital of Catalans, Barcelona is always a smiling city with its colorful streets, magnificent buildings and alive nightlife!

Barcelona was formed between the “Montjuic” and “Collserola” mountains. It seems that its back is against to the mountains whereas its face is against to Mediterranean Sea. The contributions of Gaudi, the civil war between 1936 and 1939 and the make up done for the Olympic Games in 1992 make Barcelona unforgettable for its guests.

Barcelona should not be famous just with the special bars, paella, flamenco, La Rambla street and the cathedral of La Sagrada Familia. Besides these, energetic Spanish people, Picasso, Dali and Miro are also like symbols of Barcelona.

If you visit the other cities in Spain before Barcelona, when you arrive to Barcelona, you will feel yourself like visiting the city in another country. People living in Barcelona see themselves firstly as Catalan. The cultures, the language, the customs of Catalans are different from spanish people. You should not be surprised if one Catalan tells you that before Spain, they were there and even their flag is different from Spain.

The airport of Barcelona is12 km. far from the main Barcelona hotels center. By the busses passing once in 15 minutes from the airport, you can reach to the place of “Plaça de Catalunya” which is in the city center with the ticket costs like 3$.Or you can go to the city center by taxi just with like 20$.

Barcelona is separated in three areas, which are Old Town, Eixample and Montjuik. The most important street of Barcelona is La Ramblas exists in Old Town. This street started from “Plaça de Catalunya” and ended with the sculpture of Christoph Colomb, offers lots of fun to its guests. You can meet with the people from all classes there like flower sellers, actors, businesspersons…Las Ramblas which is defined as the most beautiful street in the world by Somerset Maugham has an amazing fountain. According to the legend who drinks water from that fountain that person lives in Barcelona during the whole life. The biggest bazaar of Barcelona is also in that street. You can find plenty kinds of fruits, vegetables and seafoods there. When you get lost in these small streets of this city, Barcelona seems more amazing for you.

This city is like an open-air theater. The person who creates this architectural is surely Antonio Gaudi! Antonio Gaudi’s buildings are scattered all around the centre of the city.  The most famous and impressive can be seen along Passieg De Gracia where you will find La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Or head to the Parc Guell which is a gorgeous park designed by the man himself.  However the most impressive of Gaudi´s works is surely the La Sagrada Familia, the huge, still unfinished cathedral. Every Sundays there is a traditional Spanish dance show in front of this cathedral.

Barcelona is a party city, whatever time there is always something going on.  There are bars to suit everyone, weird ones, secret ones, flamenco ones, Catalan ones, Irish pubs, ones with great views and ones with a trendy clientele. And normally the bars are open here till 3am.
